Preparing For Pregnancy After Loss

Oct 3, 2020

Today’s episode is an interview with Elizabeth Ortiz, the founder and CEO of EllisBearyLoved, a nonprofit that distributes comfort boxes to families grieving the loss of an infant. Elizabeth created EllisBearyLoved in 2018 after the loss of her son Ellisander Lorenzo Valerio, who passed away due to omphalocele, eight days after his birth.

Elizabeth and I met a year ago at the annual Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Walk in Brooklyn. I love the way she fearlessly talks about her son and ensures that his time here isn’t forgotten. During our conversation, Elizabeth shares her experience giving birth to Ellisander and having to prepare for the worst, a subsequent high risk pregnancy, leaning on family, friends, and faith as part of her healing, and the work she’s been doing to support other families after their loss.

If you’re inspired by Elizabeth’s story and would like to stay in touch, here’s how to do so: Via Instagram: @ellisbearyloved; Via Facebook: Facebook.com/Ellisbearyloved; and Via Email: Ellisbearyloved@gmail.com

And donate to EllisBearyLoved (https://gf.me/u/y3fkks) so Elizabeth can continue her work supporting families as they grieve the loss of an infant.
